School Visits and Speaking Schedule
Hudson Talbott visits schools, conferences, and civic centers throughout
the year giving presentations based on the subject matter of his books, and
coordinated with the current curriculum standards. His programs always
include a visual component - slides, video, and/or demonstrations. The
current topics are based on the following books:
Tales of King Arthur series ( Grades 3 and up) The moral code by which
we live today was first defined in the dramatic adventures of the Knights of the
Round Table. Hudson often gives an example of their ongoing impact on us by
linking to the following example of modern day heroism.
Forging Freedom ( Grades 4 and up) The true story of Holocaust rescuer
Jaap Penraat, who saved over 400 lives, Jaap often joins Hudson for this
program. It offers a concrete response to the mandates for teaching the
Holocaust and for character education.
Leonardo's Horse ( Grades 2 and up) An introduction to the world of
Renaissance master Leonardo da Vinci, this program also provides an
opportunity to show the step-by-step process of creating a book, from
original sketch to printed volume.
O'Sullivan Stew ( Grades K to 2) Designed for younger age groups, this
program shares the joys of Irish storytelling.
Amazon Diary/ Safari Journal ( Grades 4 and up) Based on Hudson's own
travels in the Amazon Rainforest and equatorial Africa, the adventure stories
and the accompanying slide presentation provide an exciting alternative for
addressing issues of indigenous, nonwestern cultures and their respective
environments. It is also an excellent opportunity to stimulate imaginative
journal-keeping.
Writing Workshops/ Art workshops ( Grades 4 and up) Workshops can be
arranged to accommodate the schedule and needs of the host. They concentrate
on Hudson's insights as a professional, focusing on issues of generating
inspiration and idea development, and articulating personal expression.
